As an assignment to get used to working in a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW), we had to arrange Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in an AOI4 genre. I chose to do a lo fi arrangement which was not an easy task for me as I do not listen to a lot of lo fi.
I chose to do lo fi, not because I knew the genre, but as it simply felt like it matched the version of twinkle I had in mind. This made my life a little more difficult as I found that I was looking for a genre to fit my piece rather than picking a genre and fitting a piece to it.
It took me a couple of tries to find the right feel that I was looking for. The first couple of classes I spent listening to different genres of AOI4 music and trying to arrange twinkle in those various styles however I found that many of the styles included too many different layers that I did not know how to create in a DAW. This led me to simply start arranging using what I knew how to do and then adapt it to a genre later.
Overall, I found it lots of fun to experiment with various different aspects of the DAW and while it was a challenging assignment, I would love to work with AOI4 music and DAWs again!
